Female cuckoo bee - Triepeolus - female

Female cuckoo bee - Triepeolus - Female
Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, USA
July 3, 2018
Size: 1 cm
We ended up getting a number of these in our pollinator garden this year (I saw at least 2 females and 1 male at the same time one day). Based off of the markings and location, I'm guessing they're a Triepeolus sp.? Notes:
  • First observation/photographed: July 3, 2018
  • Repeatedly observed into September
  • Size: 7–10 mm (male ~ 7 mm)
  • Floral hosts: most frequently observed on sneezeweed (Helenium autumnale), cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus), and zinnias (Zinnia elegans); but, also seen on checkermallow (Sildacea virgata and S. campestris) and Shasta daisies (Leucanthemum × superbum)
  • I have more photos from different days of the male and at least one other female—plus some more of the female's abdomen—if it'd help with identification(?)
Thanks a bunch!
