Phantom Crane Fly Genus Bittacomorpha on potentilla - Bittacomorpha clavipes

Phantom Crane Fly Genus Bittacomorpha on potentilla - Bittacomorpha clavipes
Rocky Mountain NP, Larimer County, Colorado, USA
August 25, 2011
Size: BL ~12.5 mm
Seen at Fall River Road, Rocky Mountain NP, elevation ~8550'. This Phantom Crane Fly with enlarged tarsi seems to be in genus Bittacomorpha. When I look at the thorax, especially when blown up on Photoshop, the thorax has a thin white midline. Is this B. clavipes? Thanks for any help.

Probably
As of Alexander's 1967 paper on the crane flies of California there were only two species and they could be separated by range, B. clavipes from Utah east and B. occidentalis only from the Pacific coastal states.

Bittacomorpha range
THanks so much for this information on range. It is most useful.
