Ant - Ponera pennsylvanica - male

Ant - Ponera pennsylvanica - Male
Tippecanoe County, Indiana, USA
August 21, 2007
Size: 3 mm
Unknown ant alate collected in wooded area. Or is it not an ant (lacks geniculate antennae)?

Subfamily Ponerinae - male
Maybe Ponera pennsylvanica. Antennae are not geniculate because scapus (first segment) is much shorter than in female castes.

I agree with Richard on this
I agree with Richard on this one.

Thanks
Do you think this other ant (here) is the same?

I thnk so
Except for a better conservation of the second specimen, there is no obvious difference between both. For example, both share the small hook -like strucutre at the end of the abdomen and features of head are essentially the same. Size can vary a little among individuals.
