It does appear to be Ocyptamus. Let's see if the experts can take the ID further.

For now, until we can review Ocyptamus sensu stricto, I'd go with Ocyptamus antiphates (Walker, 1849). The specimen in the picture being a lighter version of the species.

Dark wings (sometimes apex cl
Dark wings (sometimes apex clear) on males (females with only basal 1/2 dark), with a wholly pale face and with a pale spot on the notopleuron and on the post-alar callus. Overall, the specimens are more pale (e.g. on scutellum and abdomen) than when compared to the closely related O. dimidiatus (Fabricius, 1781).

There are 5-6 species of Ocyptamus sensu stricto that occur in southern USA. But the other species have a more elongated abdomen (see here: https://bugguide.net/node/view/1309752), only O. antiphates and O. dimidiatus have a shorter abdomen.
