Unknown Diving Bug - Graptocorixa

Unknown Diving Bug - Graptocorixa
Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, USA
April 5, 2019
The head is really strange looking compared to just about any other beetle I've ever seen. I couldn't catch this one, so I had to take a picture above water looking down. Found in a large puddle caused by rain that pooled under a dumpster at the park. The puddle was maybe 15ft in diameter, no more than 2 inches at the deepest.

A bug, not a beetle. Please take care when placing images in the Guide. Mistakes that aren't caught can be perpetuated as others visit and assume the IDs to be solid. When there is any doubt at all, ID Request is the best bet.

Bug
You know, I had debated it being a bug instead of a beetle, which is why I named it unknown diving bug and not unknown diving beetle, but I had another diving beetle that I was placing in beetles and forgot about it.
