Orpheus' cage and Orpheus in his bed on 04.06.2019 - Oecanthus varicornis - Male
Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA
April 6, 2019
Orpheus' cage contains two healthy 4-inch potted Ageratina havanensis, the yard plant I originally found him on. The two 1-gallon plants are used for support, places to climb, cricket food and quencher dishes (yellow and orange), and sand. Finally, there is a vase with havanensis stems to support a baby sock tucked in for a bed. For safety and cleanliness, the vase no longer contains water, but rather just supporting stems sealed with paper towel for the bed, as his plants have grown well and are easily accessible. There is a small red dish of distilled water at the bottom of one plant. The cage itself is a 30-inch-tall butterfly cage. There is full spectrum lighting on one side of the cage that I gradually turn on and off during daylight hours. I clean the cage as often as I can depending on where Orpheus is sleeping. I mist a couple of times a day and before nightfall.

Would it be okay.....
If I tag and move this photo and description to the Rearing Wild Insects forum? I think it would be helpful there. I can put a link here in this thread to where it can be viewed.

Is it okay
if I add an extra photo with description to the forum and leave this one here? I put the info here in case someone needs to care for one of these and looks up the species or genus, as I generally do.
If you point me to the forum, I can add photos and information to it. I also rear other orders of insects and can provide information on them, as well.
And thank you, Nancy. :)

Sounds good....
