Genus Callima
Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
Callima Clemens, 1860
Epicallima Dyar, [1903] (unnecessary repl. name)
Explanation of Names
The genus Epicallima Dyar, [1903] is an invalid replacement of Callima Clemens, 1860 which was thought to be a homonym of the name Callima Herrich-Schäffer, 1858, a misspelling of the name Kallima Westwood, 1849. The name of this genus is returned to Callima in Hodges (1974). Some authors subsequently continued the use of the name Epicallima but Callima Herrich-Schäffer, 1858 is an invalid emmendation per ICZN Article 33 and is unavailable so Hodges (1974) stands.
Remarks
E. formosella recently introduced from Europe.
