bug with pincers - Lethocerus uhleri

bug with pincers - Lethocerus uhleri
Chilton County, Alabama, USA
April 7, 2019
This bug landed on my back just behind my shoulder while I was looking at a moth sheet last night. When I looked around to see what it was, all I saw was his face and what I thought were big antennae. So I thought it was a moth I had not seen and started gently blowing in his face and tugging on my shirt to get it to fly over to my sheet. I quickly found out that I didn't have a moth when I felt a sting and started doing the black light hoedown dance. I quickly flicked it off and it landed on the sheet. He was dirty dark brown and had huge foreleg pincers. Length 6 cm. We didn't get off to a good start.
