Sandy grasshopper - Pardalophora phoenicoptera

Sandy grasshopper - Pardalophora phoenicoptera
Bradwell Unit, Apalachicola Nat'l Forest, Gadsden County, Florida, USA
April 4, 2019
Size: about 4 cm
I observed this in a sandy area in a transition between an old field and an hardwood forest. It may have been my imagination, but it appeared to change colors. Do these critters have chromatophores?

This species can come in a variety of colors, but they cannot change their colors like an octopus or chameleon could. Any color change would have to occur between molts.
