Identification

Characterized by MONA Fascicle 22.1A as not having a smooth, blended pattern as in N. manitou. Instead ochreata has an uneven, dirty look with the costal area between reniform and PM line standing out with a rough, charcoal black patch against the light ground color.

Hodges #7926.2 Notodonta ochreata Barnes & McDunnough, 1912, formerly treated as a variety of 7926 Notodonta scitipennis Walker, 1862, is raised to full species status, MONA Fascicle 22.1A: 87. (1)
