snazzy carabid - Calosoma wilcoxi

snazzy carabid - Calosoma wilcoxi
North Bethesda, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
April 18, 2019
Size: body 20mm
Calosoma wilcoxi, based on the size of this beetle being below the range provided for C. scrutator. Size was measured against a ruler and is from the base of the jaws to the apex of the elytra. Evans says the lower end of the size range for C. scrutator is "23mm" (1) so this one may be cutting it close.

TIA

Calosoma scrutator vs C. wilcoxi
shown and discussed here which includes some of my own observations.

Thanks Peter
That's a useful discussion. I wanted to make sure that the relative "dullness" of this one was the result of wear and tear.
