Explanation of Names
Specific epithet from Latin seriatus meaning "in a series, arranged in rows" for the black scales arranged in a series of tiny lines along the anal margin of the forewings (nigro-squamulatis, serie lineolarum fuscarum marginis postici).

Mostly southeastern United States: Texas to Florida, north at least to Maryland.
