observed late afternoon, rapid flight, appeared black when in motion. I think this is an example of Erynnis juvenalis juvenalis Juvenal's Duskywing

for the this characteristic / indicator when comparing females. I've noted that BofA has several images of Juvenal's which are indicated as Horace's but I have been unable to get a correction.

Horace's Duskywing female
note white at proximal base of eye, Juvenal's show little if any white around or at base of eyes.
