Frassed

Why frassed?
I'm curious for your reason(s).

I thought the two kinds of dorsal luster
(pronotum vs elytra) was kind of pretty. Maybe that could serve as a diagnostic sign to other experts. Frankly, if I put my mind to it, I could identify your image to species with reasonable certainty. I should be able to recognize it because it is after all from my home state. I just didn't want to exert the extra effort. My free time is already spread too thin. I feel it is my fault that you opted to frass it.

My misunderstanding
I do like the luster too - thanks for checking on this one. I very much appreciate your comments on my images and across bugguide!

Reasons
I guess I figure if you can't id it then it doesn't have much chance of going further, and there are already 8 pages of Amara at the genus level, so I don't feel like it adds anything to the guide.
I'm happy to move it back though if you see some value in keeping it.

Amara surely ...
but for this tricky speciose genus I usually hesitate with species IDs from field photographs. Your first consideration should be the aptly named "Common Sun Beetle" = Amara aenea. It is the most likely Amara to be seen running in the open during spring daylight across the country. While this species is easy to determine under scope, the initial photographs here are not confirmatory in my opinion.
