Is there anyway to know what this ant is? They were all over our cherry tree, checking out all the leaf buds. Today I saw them on the peonies too. Any suggestion is very appreciated

No, ocelli are genus level (one of the Lasius/Formica distinctions). I'm sure Dr. Trager is correct - I'm pretty novice.
