Pitcherplant moth larva - host plant - Exyra semicrocea

Pitcherplant moth larva - host plant - Exyra semicrocea
Alachua County, Florida, USA
November 15, 2003
I identified this as Sarracenia minor, hooded pitcher plant, based on images at USF website here - the shape of the top of the leaf/pitcher seems to be quite distinctive.

Hmm...
That's not too far from Darlingtonia californica- in form, that is. Geographically, it's a few thousand miles off.

In case you haven't already run across it, there's a key here.

I notice in that reference that there are aquatic larvae that live inside pitcher plants- that might be something interesting to look for.

Where specifically?
If you could email me privately, I'd love to know where I can go photograph this plant! Your shot is beautiful

Sorry, Will
this was on a hike I took with the Florida Native Plant Society, and unfortunately I didn't note the exact location - a shortish drive from Gainesville is all I remember.
