Sphecidae, Thread-waisted Wasp (Podium sp) ID please - Podium rufipes
Skidaway Island, Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, USA
Size: 05/16/19
This wasp appeared on a support post holding an insect nesting box containing 56, 6" bamboo cylinders, with app 5/16" entrance holes. There were multiple explortory Sphecidae, ( Isodontia auripes) wasp checking out the nesting sites. This elongated, "Thread-waisted Wasp" with long red legs stood out in the crowd. A volunteer naturalist, Susanna Heideman opined, (Podium rufipes). I request an ID please? Thank you.
