Helophilus neoaffinis? - Helophilus latifrons - female

Helophilus neoaffinis? - Helophilus latifrons - Female
Weldon, CA: Kern River Preserve, Kern County, California, USA
May 5, 2019
Size: approx 13mm body length
Looks a lot like the 3 neoaffinis images already here in bugguide, but in this particular specimen both of the two posterior pale abdominal bands join mediodorsally (check second image for a better angle on the posteriormost pale band).

Helophilus latifrons..... female.
The facial stripe is yellow/orange but is black in neoaffinis. Also the grayish bands joining on tergite 4 and 5 seems to be different from neoaffinis (overlapping side margin of tergites). The basal two segments of antennae black and the yellow markings on tergite 2 widening (not straight or receding at side margins of tergite.) Hairs on frons beyond black ocellar triangle are yellow, also frons being wider, separate this from fasciatus.
