Puffy mine on Oclemena acuminata - whorled wood aster - Acrocercops astericola

Puffy mine on Oclemena acuminata - whorled wood aster - Acrocercops astericola
Fredericton, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
August 29, 2018
This is one aster I can identify: Oclemena acuminata - whorled wood aster. One distinctly linear mine, puffy on the underside, grading in colour from green to yellow at the leaf tip. Keys out to Acrocercops astericola in the new Asterales key. No evidence of pupa, as the mine is vacant, or frass, so basing id on puffy characteristic.

Moved
Moved from Unidentified Leaf Mines.

The old mines (in the leaf with holes) look like they might be Liriomyza limopsis, but the yellow-green one is A. astericola.
