Sawfly on Spruce - Dolerus

Sawfly on Spruce - Dolerus
Southend Campsite Kingsmere Lake, Prince Albert National Park, Saskatchewan, Canada
May 20, 2019
This was one of many similar sawflies that was hovering about a few Spruce Trees near the beach at Southend Campsite. Most did not land or linger for more then a few seconds but this one seems to not care much about me or the camera.

Not sure what it is doing here, it looks almost like it is drinking or consuming sap from the Spruce.

Selandriinae
This is likely one of the horsetail-eating Dolerus spp. - a male. Active and abundant this time of year as the horsetails spring up.
