Hopping Water Insect - Gelastocoris oculatus

Hopping Water Insect - Gelastocoris oculatus
Sutton, Braxton County, West Virginia, USA
May 29, 2019
Size: 2-3mm
Sorry for the low-quality photo, I was chasing this thing across the beach trying to get one.

A little water bug met at the edge of Sutton Lake, one of several. It was comfortable in the water and on land, but moved by hopping around. Fairly capable as a swimmer as well. The weather was overcast but warm, and the water level was uncommonly high.

Thank you for your time!

Toad Bug
Looks like the first BugGuide image for West Virginia if I have my states correct.
Images here.

Thank you!
Oh wow! I didn't realize we had state pages. Thank you so much!
