Beetle - Eleodes marginata

Beetle - Eleodes marginata
Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County, California, USA
May 31, 2019

Moved tentatively...
After seeing the full size image, I'm pretty sure there's a distinct lack of yellow setae under the front tibiae...

Moved from Darkling Beetles.

Do you have another photo or the specimen
to verify the presence or absence of golden setae on the underside of the tibiae?
This individual strongly resembles Eleodes (Discogenia) marginata, however there is a mimicry complex with Coelocnemis californica and they can appear quite similar. Coelocnemis possess those golden setae, Eleodes does not.
