Could this be : Arrowhead spiketail - Cordulegaster obliqua
Located on a very small pond. Resting on Cattail stem about 5/8" Diameter

Gomphid
This is a clubtail. Thorax in Cordulegaster has 2 bright slanting stripes against a dark background.
I'm not very good with gomphids from south of my area but it might be Arigomphus villosipes, Unicorn Clubtail.
