This is a Cibolacris
It may just be a local regional variant of C. parviceps, but it has a lot in common with C. samalayuca (which may also just be a variant of C. parviceps). These need more study, but it also seems very likely that this Colorado Plateaus version is a distinct species. One problem is that in some areas, scattered about eastern Utah, where not on the red sands, the Cibolacris present look pretty much just like normal C. parviceps.
