Scotchtown, south end of Grand Lake, Queens County, New Brunswick, Canada

Now that I am gaining more experience with the Hymenoptera, I will hazard a guess that this is a sawfly from the family Tenthredinidae

Right guess
A member of the Tenthredininae subfamily, maybe genus Tenthredopsis. A very elegant black and yellow species at any rate.
