Hey -
Andrew - normally we let the experts move images like this to species, rather than taking our best guess. It's possible you are right about this ID, but crane flies are extremely diverse, with hundreds of species in the genus Tipula. Was this identified by someone else at iNat or elsewhere? Thanks!

No
But I invite an expert to look over the evidence I've indicated.

That -
is not the way it works here at Bug Guide, in general. Images are usually placed at the family or genus level and wait there for an expert to comment or move them. When placed directly to species, sometimes other people see them and assume they are properly placed reference images that can be used to ID their own fly and possible errors get compounded and propagated. I'm not trying to argue with you, just letting you know the general etiquette here. iNaturalist (which I also frequent) has a different strategy, where folks are have to agree with your ID to make an observation "research grade".
The fact that you've switched your species ID in the course of a couple of days suggest you are not totally confident of the ID, which is appropriate.
