Acmon or Lupine Blue? - Plebejus

Acmon or Lupine Blue? - Plebejus
Nelson, Central Kootenay, British Columbia, Canada
June 13, 2019
I realize that Acmon and Lupine are difficult to distinguish where ranges overlap, but some range maps suggest that southern BC is not Acmon range. I had two individuals flying today, and I know the ventral views are of the same individual, but not sure about the dorsal. May be the 2nd bug. They were together.

Acmon Blue
According to Butterflies of Canada, only Acmon is in Canada.

Acmon & Lupine Ranges....
Are you referring to Peter Hall's 1998 book? More current sites and books seem to contradict that assessment. Pyle & LaBar's recent Pacific NW book indicates that both are present in BC, while the Butterflies of the Americas site (Pelham) has the Acmon range as being west into California and barely entering Oregon...Even BC's E-fauna website indicates that only Lupine is in BC. I'm in no position to say which is more correct, but with taxonomy in constant flux I tend to trust more recent publications.
