Size: 1.3 mm
Single female located in small horizontal sheet web built between dead leaves on ground in deeply shaded region of Quercus-Pseudotsuga forest. Another individual female was found around 7 meters away, with a spherical cluster of eggs that it attempted to carry while taking cover.

Very cool.
I created the taxonomy so it can be filed now, but I'll leave it up to you if you want to leave it here or move it to Araneae (people interested in spiders look there) for a few days so people see it.

Thanks! I'm ecstatic about finding this little spider. I think the Araneae board might be q good location for those who can make a positive ID.

the family wasn't already on the site because I felt like I'd seen it a bunch of times before and I just now realized why. The first edition of "Spiders of North America" has a male G. shantzi right on the front cover.
