Beetle with clubbed antennae - Platyceroides pampinatus

Beetle with clubbed antennae - Platyceroides pampinatus
Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, USA
June 16, 2019
Size: 10mm
Found on a piece of tall grass on a wilderness trail at the park. The trail is not traveled much, due to there being a lot of stinging nettle. I had originally thought it may be a ground beetle of some kind, but it could fly.

While handling it I noticed it occasionally made a light clicking noise, which I can only remember hearing before when I had a praying mantis eating a cricket leg. It didn't seem hurt in any way, though it was quite slow.

At the very end of my photographing I noticed something interesting on the first pair of legs. On the anterior side of the femora there were two small orange/yellow hairy circles, both with a corresponding point on the abdomen. I didn't notice it on any of the other legs. It was very hard to notice, and I could easily see it being glossed over on many occasions.
