This is a member of the Tricochrous umbratus group of species. This one is common on the western Mojave desert in early summer. Adult males can be recognized by an inconspicuous cluster of short black spicules at the middle of abdominal ventrite 4, and can be found in numbers on flowers of Stephanomeria pauciflora and Eriogonum fasciculatum.
