Travertine beetle - Lutrochus laticeps

Travertine beetle - Lutrochus laticeps
Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA
June 23, 2007
Size: 3-4mm
Collected from partially submerged rock in Milwaukee River. This individual was just above the water line on the rock, in amongst encrusted organic matter but plainly visible. I would like to thank carabid specialist Peter Messer for sharing his lutrochid knowledge with me and guiding me to these beetles.

Expertly mounted and imaged by my friend Nicolas Gompel. Pics taken with automontage system.
