I kept checking back to see the larvae that would emerge but never found him. The egg had a long silk stalk that attached it to the flower.

Lacewings have stalked eggs like this. Not sure if certain other groups do as well...

I think you are right. I looked through other photos taken that same day and found one of a lacewing larva. I didn't put them together before now. Thank you.
