Blaberus sp. in Miami, FL - Blaberus
Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA

Size: About 3 cm length
I found this species of blaberus on Virginia Key in the potting soil of a native plant that was recently transported from a native plant nursery on the Miami mainland. I would like to know which blaberus species it is, but don't know how to tell them apart.

Moved, can't tell species from this nymph...
It's either B.discoidalis or B.atropos, both have very similar looking nymphs.

Moved from Cockroaches and Termites.

Species ID
Darn, was hoping a species ID would be possible. Oh well, it is an interesting genus find at any rate. I'll start looking for adults in the hopes of determining species.

Well if you find adults in the same area...
Then we should be able to ID both in one go... Just can't get a species ID from a nymph alone, (unless it was a craniifer nymph, those look quite a bit different from discoidalis and atropos).
