rove beetle - Erichsonius

rove beetle - Erichsonius
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
February 2, 2008
Size: 5mm
This one was floating on the surface of a puddle on a frozen swamp on a 40 degree day.

Moved
Moved from Staphylininae.

Erichsonius sp.
Our only dark Neobis*nius has the apical portion of the elytra paler, while every Erichsonius in our area looks just like this. Must pull the male tail to get any further.

Moved
Another one I'll put on the Staphylininae page until it can be confirmed which genus to place it in. Thanks Boris.

Neo*bisnius or Erich*sonius
I say again.
