Mydas clavatus? - Cimbex americanus

Mydas clavatus? - Cimbex americanus
Sperryville, Rappahannock County, Virginia, USA
June 23, 2019
Size: ~1" (body)
The extensive red on this fly's legs and antennae, and the white (rather than red) band on top doesn't match up to M. clavatus, but I can't find a better match. Found it circling around on a forested mountain trail.
