Alaus oculatus looking for love? - Alaus oculatus

Size: 2 inches
It appeared walking along my pants leg. We’d never heard of it, though the small, plain alaus is a great favorite of my husband’s. This is actually a reconstruction, after we retrieved the beetle from the weeds and it was playing dead (we checked; it wasn’t).
