Spider # 26 - Hogna coloradensis

Spider # 26 - Hogna coloradensis
Skull Valley, (WSW of Prescott 10 miles), Yavapai County, Arizona, USA
June 20, 2007
Enlarged & cropped facial view to better see the eye details: I don't see three rows of eyes, only 2 rows. Looks like 2 large eyes with 4 small eyes below them.

Could
you provide a ventral view, or is the spider long gone?
Any idea of size?

Ventral view
Sorry. It's long gone & I didn't think to get one.

Not
sure which genus, but it is a wolf spider, in case it wasn't made clear previously.
I would guess Geolycosa as well, but a ventral view of the spider would have confirmed or denied. See linked images of spiders underside in thumbnail below. Ventral markings (on body and legs) are often unique to Geolycosa spp. Here's another for comparison.

Thanks Jeff .... maybe Geolycosa !
I'll try getting a ventral view next time as well.

In comment on previous linked image.

I see one
On the side, at the front of the black stripe where it makes a point, in the point - right where it should be. Just a little glint of light.
Here is another one (may not be same species or genus), but it has a stripe ending at the eye. Can you see the eye?

Hey ! I sure didn't catch it until you pointed it out!!
I'll recheck my images to see if I can get a better view of them! Here's a dorsal view enlarged & it shows the eyes as you indicated. I hadn't used this enlarging feature before!! Neat.
