Edited the "State" field to California

It's clear from everything here that the specimen is from California...i.e. town of Cool, County of El Dorado, range of species are all in California...not New Hampshire. And Jim's last comment at the bottom of this page refers to Placer & Sacramento Cos. as well as the American River...all in Sierra foothills of central CA. Clearly he must have obtained the specimen there.

Yup, yup, yup

I probably absentmindedly typed New Hampshire, possibly helped in that error by the fact the beetle was IN New Hampshire when I typed it. I brought back several live specimens with me from California, this being one of them. Clearly, California is the state where found.

Apsena

Species in the genus Apsena. Can't recall the species right now. Its similar to the fancier one (Eulabis bicarinatus) because it belongs in the same tribe, the Eulabini.

Hi Tom,

It's just south of Placer County and east of Sacramento County. The North Fork of the American River separates it from Placer County. I have family in the town of Cool. (The town has a dress code: sunglasses required ;-)
