Hyleaus vs. wasp - female

Hyleaus vs. wasp - Female
Leavenworth, Chelan County, Washington, USA
June 22, 2019
Size: ~6 mm
Wasp-appearing but filling 4 mm cardboard tube with resin. Once tube sealed, the bee/wasp opened it again and worked on it for awhile. Currently just sitting inside tube without further activity. Note entrance of tube has been extended with resin, and tube on left has particles of sawdust and/or sand in it. This pic demonstrates wasp/bee carrying glob of resin to tube (pics with bee/wasp taking resin inside not included). Face does not have "mask" and wings are slightly iridescent.
