Anasimyia sp - Lejops

Anasimyia sp - Lejops
Port Alberni, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
June 29, 2019
Think this is a female from Anasimyia Group 2, based on the "Field Guide to Flower Flies of Northeastern North America", Skevington & Locke, 2019.

Scutellum more than 1/3rd black & frons relatively narrow.

Thanks, Bill. That was really helpful.

Safe in Anasimyia with no sex declared

The amount of black on scutellum is unreliable as an identification feature. The lateral ocelli is separated from eye margin by at least twice the diameter of ocellus. Would this make this group 1? Is this perhaps Anasimyia anausis (formerly lunulata) and a male?? See pick on page 78 of Guide.
From distribution, the only other species would likely be bilinearis or chrysostoma.
This genus has forever been confusing. Perhaps DNA sequencing will sort them out.
