Parancistrocerus spp.? (Edited from: Pachodynerus erynnis?) - Parancistrocerus fulvipes
Sebastian , Indian River County, Florida, USA
July 8, 2019
Size: approx 1/2“
Used BugGuide to try and identify this wasp found feeding on our native Firebush, Hamelia patens, and the closest I can get is Pachodynerus erynnis, however, the first tergum is not nearly as solid rusty red as in those pictured on the page for this species on Bug Guide. Does the wasp I’ve photographed here fall within the range of variation for this species? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for moving this Ken. Curious to see what the experts say! 🙂

Parancistrocerus spp.?
Just read the bit about Pachodynerus not having a spot behind the eye, which mine has. So Parancistrocerus fulvipes possibly?
