This bee had just extracted itself from being caught in an Asclepias syriaca flower, and spent a few seconds recovering on this Senna hebecarpa stem.

Apis mellifera. I often see milkweed pollinia stuck to their feet, it can weigh them down quite a bit.

Thanks, Molly. That is what I figured it was, but there are so many bee look-alikes it is not always easy to tell for sure!
