Neat beetle, I think someone will be able to narrow further.
If possible, please always include a dorsal view of your subject, it is often critical for ID.

I checked to see if I had a decent dorsal view, but I do not.
With a narrowed search of Darkling beetles, it looks similar to Androchirus femoralis. The overall shape and thorax shape match some of the pictures but do not match many of the pictures. The red portions were very vibrant. The antennae of this one seem different too, more like beads.
It was located on a fence rail near a partially rotting river birch tree and under a Joes Pye Weed bush. We have had lots of storms so it could have arrived here by random circumstances.
