Could you kindly identify the katydid and grasshopper species? - Schistocerca lineata - Male
Gillespie County, Texas, USA
July 10, 2019
Hidden in a dense foliage, the katydid suddenly attacked the grasshopper by biting at its head-thorax connection.
It happened about 15:45 noon in the full sun (temp. ~90F). The grasshopper remained entirely motionless throughout.
I could witness only the first few minuted of the encounter.

Why is this moved back to ID Request?
The IDs of both orthops have been given and they were moved to their respective places in the guide.

Great series! This is the 'aposematic form' of Schistocerca lineata, but clearly their chemical defenses didn't stop the Neobarretia. I've moved this image to the hopper page and the second two images to the katydid page

Thanks for the comment.
I have a few more shots of that series, which I may submit if you wish me to do so.
