I believe this is Melandrya striata, the only species in the genus (in the strict sense) in North America. Not a terribly common beetle!

elytral sides parallel
Thanks for the ID tip Zack. I notice the elytral sides are more parallel in mine than in the specimen pictured on Cedar Creek's site. From what I can see, the pronotum is a close match however. Could this be a regional or sexual difference?
