Gryllus veletis - male

Gryllus veletis - Male
just up 347 from Grayback Gulch Campground, Boise County, Idaho, USA
July 10, 2019
There were a few of these chirping from a grassy clearing in coniferous forest at night. This unfortunate male lost both his hind legs.

By Weissman & Gray (2019), this should be the only species of the genus in range, with this kind of chirping song, and out as adults at this time of year.
