Spider egg parasites? - Ectopsocopsis cryptomeriae

Spider egg parasites? - Ectopsocopsis cryptomeriae
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
November 2, 2007
Being more than a little buggy, that triggered my shutter reflex. But when I reviewed the image in the LCD I discovered that I had more than I had bargained for. There were probably 50 of these tiny flies? in and around the strands of the egg case. They did not appear to approach the eggs themselves but scurried for the shelter of the silk fibers anytime I disturbed the case.

Ectopsocopsis cryptomeriae (Enderlein 1907)
Ed Mockford det.
Moved from Ectopsocidae.

Thanks
to both you and Ed for the ID. I wonder if they were feeding on the eggs or if these are THEIR eggs. All I could find was a vague description of their life cycle which referenced a silken web over the eggs.
