Lakeside Alderfly - Sialis

Lakeside Alderfly - Sialis
Stonecoal Wildlife Management Area, Upshur County, West Virginia, USA
May 9, 2005
These were very, very common on sycamores and other young trees along the lakeshore, and on herbaceous water plants. Alderflies emerge early in the Spring, and the adults apparently live only two or three days. The larvae, on the other hand, live several years.
