Rasing one from youth?

Have you tried to raise one from this nymph stage? It'd be a good way to see one as an adult! By the way, wonderful photo. :)

Thanks Sam, I considered catching and raising one, but, from what little info I was able to find, it seems they are pretty difficult to raise. They are also fairly rare- didn't want to risk killing it.

without problems last year, on moths.

Unicorn Mantis Nymph

Thanks Maragarethe, I'm still wondering what the visual differences are between the Mexican and Arizona Unicorn mantids. The adults look a bit different from the photos I've seen, but the nymphs look nearly identical- the adbomens on the Arizona Unicorn mantids might have larger appendages, but that might be my imagination :)

Gorgeous photo...I've seen lots of different images this year of mantids but this one is highly attractive as I've been getting used to the Carolina mantid. I've not even seen this variety till you posted....

Thanks Sauria, I've only recently gotten into photographing mantids. There are around a dozen species where I live and some, like this one, are pretty unique looking.
