Illinois Bicolored - Sunira bicolorago

Illinois Bicolored - Sunira bicolorago
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
November 20, 2007
Attracted to my garage light at night.

check distribution
of verberata as these 2 spp. are essentially identical. I don't know the USA distribution.

Thanks, Tony.
Covell places bicolorago throughout "our area" except in Florida.

The University of Alberta web site gives the following range for verberata.

"Western North America, from south central Saskatchewan west to Alaska and coastal BC, south to at least southwestern Montana and southwestern Colorado. In Alberta, it has been collected in the Aspen Parkland and southern Boreal Forest south to the wooded valleys of the arid grasslands, and throughout the foothills, as well as in the northern Peace River district."

Based on that, I would conclude that only bicolorage would be represented in Illinois.

No, that's incorerct
verberata is now known to occur across Canada at least to southern NB (I have specimens). Seems reasonable that it may occur in Illinois.
